The garden pool
The garden pool as an alternative to the swimming pool
Not everyone has the opportunity to create a luxurious
swimming pool or a chic infinity pool in their garden. Garden pools are a real
alternative to the permanently installed pool. They are not firmly attached to
the ground, but are set up on top of it. The classic among the garden pools are
the well-known paddling pools, but also the popular round above-ground pool.
The types of garden pools
A distinction is made between the so-called quick-up pools,
the frame pools and the steel wall pools. While the quick-up pools and the frame
pools are only used as above-ground pools on the floor, the steel wall pool can
also be embedded in the ground or covered with a pool edge. Quick-up pools and
frame pools are therefore the right variant for all those who are looking for a
pool that can be installed quickly and that can also be dismantled in winter,
while steel wall pools are often seen as an inexpensive alternative to the
permanently installed swimming pool.
The quick-up pool
The quick-up pools are already very inexpensive to purchase and actually have a bit of a resemblance to the classic paddling pool, even if they are much larger. Quick-up pools are inflatable, usually round, swimming pools. They consist of a PU sheet and a ring that is inflated and then when the poolis filled with water, erects.
The only requirement for this pool is a garden with a smooth
lawn. The quick-up pool is therefore already suitable for very small gardens
and is a space-saving and practical alternative to larger pools, because when
the temperatures drop, they can be quickly and easily dismantled and stowed
away to save space. It should be noted that a water filter is also required for
the quick-up pool from a certain size. This can be purchased separately from
the pool or you can opt for a complete set that not only includes the quick-up
pool, but also the corresponding accessories.
The frame pool
The Frame pool is also not permanently connected to the
floor, but simply placed on top of it. It consists of a metal frame
construction that determines the shape of the round or square garden pool. This
frame is covered with a PVC film, which forms the pool of the pool. The frame
pools are larger than the quick-up pools and a filter system is essential for
them due to their size. When setting up these garden pools, care must be taken
to ensure that their tubular steel frame is set up and aligned correctly and
that the liner for the swimming pool is correctly attached to the frame. The
advantage of the frame pool is its larger size compared to the quick-up pool. Depending
on the model, you can even swim a few small laps in it. However, as with the
quick-up pool, the swimming liner is vulnerable and can be damaged by sharp
objects. This should be taken into account when setting up.
The steel wall pool
The steel wall pool is mainly found in a round shape. It consists of a circumferential steel wall that gives the pool stability. The steel wall is usually provided with a plastic rail at the top and bottom. The pool, which consists of the steel wall, is covered with a PU film so that it can be used as a swimming pool. Steel wall pools are often used for larger amounts of water and can be up to one and a half meters deep.
You must therefore reliably withstand the pressure of the
water and need a suitable base plate. These pools are also happy to be embedded
in the ground and are given a chic border with wood or stones. They require
pumps that provide high performance and a sand filter system is required. The
steel wall pools are intended for year-round use and are left standing in
winter. The steel wall pools are most similar to the classic swimming pools
built into the garden, but they are also more expensive than quick-up pools and
frame pools.
The cost of the garden pool
In addition, there are costs for the pump and filter system,
if these are necessary. High-quality pool covers should also not be left out.
These not only protect the water from contamination, but should also be a
matter of course when children use the garden. The maintenance costs for the
garden pool include the costs for the electricity and the costs for the water.
While a steel wall pool is more expensive to purchase and there may be
additional costs for excavating the floor, you have to reckon with the quick-up
pool and the frame pool that
Child safety at the garden pool
The garden pool guarantees great fun for the whole family. However, children should never be left unattended in or near the pool. Nevertheless, it is sometimes not that easy to keep an eye on the little ones. How quickly does it go that you play with the child in the garden and the postman rings the doorbell - you dash to the door and the child is already unsupervised?
So that the pool is inaccessible for the little ones when
you are not there, you can set it up in a separate area of the garden and
make it inadequate with a fence. A simpler and faster alternative is a
high-quality pool cover. There are also special alarm systems for the pool that
react to water movements. The pool alarm reports as soon as it detects
movement, for example because an animal or a child fell into the water (or
secretly climbed into it). The pool alarm does not prevent accidents, but it
also draws attention to possible incidents and enables quick reactions.
An expert for pools & spas will advise which pool is the right one, which accessories can be useful and what needs to be considered during construction and maintenance.
