Teenagers Room

Teenagers have their own mind and setting up a room for them can be very demanding. It is no longer the priority to meet the needs of the parents, but above all to consider the wishes of the young people - and these can differ widely from the parents' ideas. The youth room should be the perfect place to meet friends in peace, sleep in, listen to music, but also do homework and learn. As with the children’s room, there is almost always something lying around and enough storage space is required to be able to create order.

The right design for the youth room

Don't be childish! This is often the motto of young people when it comes to the design of their room. The best way to do it justice is to focus on the interests of the young person and incorporate their hobbies into the design. You can construct a shelf out of an old skateboard, set up a place of honor on the wall for your guitar, put your CD collection in the limelight with an LED-lit CD shelf or dedicate an entire poster wall to your favorite star.

A modern wall design

Pale blue and glittering violet are the preferred colors for girls 'or boys ‘rooms in the youth room, however, completely different tones are usually required. The wall design can look very different here and, like the design of the room in general, be based on the character and interests of the young person. Painting is an inexpensive way to design the walls. If the whole family helps, you create moments together and if the color is no longer as popular as it was at the beginning, you can swing the brush again. Strong colors are often welcome in the youth room - a deep purple, a strong brown, a bright orange or a dark red - all these colors can be used here. Especially in the case of small rooms, however, you should make sure that they do not get out of hand and, for example, only one wall can be colored,

Stencils and wall tattoos, with which you can set accents, are also practical. So you can conjure up sports motifs on the wall, but also cheeky sayings or motifs from the world of art or music. Young travel enthusiasts, on the other hand, enjoy a huge map of the world on the wall, on which they can mark where they have already been or where they still want to go. At an age when not only the whole world but also one's own body seems to be changing, a mirror should be missing. The best are full-length mirrors, in which you can check in the morning whether the outfit fits.

Find the right furniture for the youth room

When choosing furniture for the youth room, the same requirements apply as for the children's room - it must be functional and offer storage space. A whole, small world usually has to fit into a youth room. You benefited from multifunctional furniture and clever furnishing ideas. If a new bed has to be found for the youth room, one should, on the one hand, pay attention to the correct size and quality of the slatted frame and mattress, and, on the other hand, also to the various possible uses. Loft beds are particularly practical for small rooms, under which there is space for a desk, but beds that can be converted into a couch in no time at all and quickly become a cozy chill zone for afternoons with friends are also popular. If the youngsters have overnight guests more often, a bed is a good choice, which is equipped with a pull-out bed. You can also create storage space with the bed by using a model that is equipped with additional boxes or drawers.

The desk is - albeit often not the most popular place - a particularly important piece of furniture in the youth room. Young people often spend a lot of time at their desks, so attention should be paid to the right size, lighting and ergonomics. A desk on which several books and notebooks can be placed next to each other and above or next to the shelves for books and accessories is ideal. A desk lamp should be attached in such a way that the light does not cast shadows when writing - that is, if possible on the left for right-handers and as far as possible on the right for left-handers.

In addition to a bed and desk, young people need their own wardrobe in their room. This is as spacious as possible and offers space for school and leisure clothes. To make it easier to keep things tidy here, practical organization systems can be used for the wardrobe, such as special boxes with many compartments for socks, accessories and the like. And if the organization does not work at all, outside help can be useful. How about, for example, consulting an experienced interior designer when designing the youth room, who meets the requirements of the youth as well as the expectations of the parents?

Lighting - a clever mix of direct and indirect light

The lighting makes a decisive contribution to a cozy ambiance in the youth room, but it also has to meet many requirements. First of all, good general lighting is required. This can be achieved with a cool hanging lamp on the ceiling or with spots embedded in the ceiling. Lamps with a rope system that can be stretched from one side of the ceiling to the other and are equipped with several spots are also popular. Young people need good direct lighting at their desk and bed, where they read and study. There are many options here - from the classic table lamp to the stylish floor lamp. Indirect lighting ensures that a calming, relaxed ambiance can be created. Wall lights are suitable for this,
