Sort the books with a system

When you have installed or installed the first shelves on the walls, it is time for the books to move to their new home. As long as the library is still empty, there is a unique opportunity to implement a meaningful order here without great effort. Otherwise, all books have to be taken out and put back in again later. Such a larger action is time-consuming and is often neglected until a real chaos has arisen.

If, on the other hand, you manage to sort the books with a system right from the start and also keep them, you save the time and nerves to bring the chaos back to order. It is therefore important to ask yourself the question of the system you want before you put it away. There are many ways to do this. The books can be sorted by, for example

alphabet

author

width

color

genre

weight

height or

subject

It is also possible to mix several systems. In many libraries, for example, the books are subdivided according to genre or topic - and within this subdivision they are again sorted alphabetically. If several family members use the library, everyone can also have their own area.

In principle, there is no right or wrong system. It is only important that you always find what you are looking for. The library should also look tidy. It can therefore make sense to first get an overview of your own book collection in order to find a suitable system. Of course, space should be left for future expansions. Then the library can grow or adapt to reading habits that have changed in the course of life.
