Metro White cladding is a major trend in interior design and architecture. You may not recognize it by name, but you have certainly seen the coating in photos and references of super stylish kitchens.

This white tile is famous because it is applied to metro stations in major cities, such as Paris, New York and London. It has a rectangular shape and is also known as metronome, subway tiles (translation: subway tile), white subway tile, etc. Each professional call in a different way, but one thing is unanimous: kitchen with white meter is beautiful, super stylish! If you are thinking of having a less formal and more modern kitchen , we have selected 15 incredible kitchen designs with metro coating to inspire you.

1.   Metro white with black furniture

It is very common to use kitchen flooring in the strip between the counter top and overhead furniture. This generates savings, because it is much cheaper to apply the coating to a part of the wall than to the entire wall. In this case, it is very important to pay attention to the height of the counter top, the sink wheel and where the aerial furniture starts, so that there is no part of the wall without application. An always valid tip is to hire a qualified professional for the installation.

In this project above, the technique of making only one strip was used. The counter top is both black granite and furniture, while the top part (cladding and overhead furniture) is white. This creates a very clear division between the elements, with black making the kitchen more elegant and the white furniture combined with the subway covering, make the space a little more fun.

2.   Metro white with red bench

The white subway coating, despite bringing a lot of style to the environment, creates a neutral background in the kitchens. In this way, it is possible to be very daring when choosing the colors that make up the environment. In this kitchen, all the white furniture and cladding allowed the architect to bet on a red synthetic stone counter top to bring a lot of personality.

3.   Metro white with black hood

This idea is for those who like a clean kitchen. Counter top furniture, cabinets and even stools have white details. On the wall for preparing meals, the only elements that are not white are gray stone used on the counter top and the black hood, which gave the space a more industrial touch. The dining table, on the other hand, is wooden with green chairs, which made the environment cozier.

4.   Everything white

The white cabinets with shell handles and frame on the drawers and doors bring a classic and romantic touch to the space. Combined with the white metro, the ambiance has a more vintage style and proves that, even with a lot of white, the space does not stay neutral and have a lot of personality. The hydraulic tile in shades of gray on the floor and the large stainless steel tub bring a little of contemporaneity.

5.   Metro white with straight pagination

The most common is to use the metro white with interleaved pagination. But it can be used in many ways:

  • Interleaved:Used horizontally, with one piece starting in the middle of the other. Like a brick.
  • Straight:It can be done both horizontally - as is the case with the project above - and vertically, with one piece next to the other, fully aligned.
  • Fish bone:is the layout of the diagonal coating, in which the pieces resemble a fish bone. They are placed diagonally, forming triangles that connect.
  • Chevron:in the chevron pagination, the ends of the pieces are cut at 45 degrees, so that they fit together and do not overlap, as in the wishbone.

6.   Coating on the island

In addition to the back wall, the metronome can also be applied on the preparation island, which is in the middle of the kitchen. For this, the island has to be built of masonry, robocalled and then the coating will be applied.

7.   Two colors of subway coating

In this project, black and white subway cladding was used on perpendicular walls. The black on the back wall composes with the wooden furniture and the white in the dining room has a very different layout: it starts close to the wall and ends in an organic, unmatched way. This is a way to take advantage of a small amount of coating and give a very relaxed look to the environment.

8.   Metro white throughout the kitchen

In all projects so far, the subway tile has only been used on the back wall of the kitchen, but when the kitchen is L-shaped and there will be food handling throughout, it is recommended that the subway tile be applied to all walls that they can get dirty.

9.   Metro white with white worktop

When the white metro is used on a white stone counter top, we have that air of continuity in the kitchen. This solution is ideal for those who have a small kitchen but would like the counter top furniture to be dark.

10.                     Metro white with blue furniture

As in the project with the red counter top, this kitchen created a neutral background with white meter and chose to use the furniture in a much unexpected color: blue. The result is a contemporary atmosphere with a retro touch.

11.                     Metro white with yellow

The combination of yellow and metronome left the space looking light and fun. Under the aerial unit, a led strip was used to enhance the coating.

12.                     Turquoise subway coating

White is the traditional color of the metronome coating, but with the increasing use, many companies started to launch variations of tone and shape in the coating. In this loft kitchen, the turquoise coating gave a super boost to the environment.

13.                     Pink subway coating

Pink is a little used color in kitchens and common areas, it is usually more restricted to rooms. When it is in a more sober tone, as is the case with this project, it can completely transform the environment without leaving it with a romantic look. .

14.                     Red subway coating

Red is a super striking color, and when you choose it on a large surface, you can imagine that it will be a highlight in the environment. In this case, the restaurant's service counter was lined with red metronome, creating a very industrial look.

15.                     Little black rice

As with any black coating, the metronome leaves the environment elegant even when used on a small surface, as is the case of the project above, in which it was applied only to the wall of the stove and hood.
