Make
the shelves decoratively
The subject of light has already
been mentioned; after all, it plays an important role in the reading
room. Good lighting conditions are a prerequisite for relaxed reading
hours without straining your eyes. During the day, sunlight
can be sufficient for this, but sometimes an additional light source is
necessary, for example on a rainy summer, gray autumn or snowy winter day.

of course also be able to be used at night without any problems. After
all, nobody wants to have to put the book aside in the most exciting place just
because the sun is going down.
At least one large window that lets
a lot of light into the room is ideal in the reading room. As already
mentioned, the seat should stand with the back or to the side of this window so
that the reader is not blinded and the book is well lit.
In addition, several small light
sources that are distributed in the room are recommended. This brings more
comfort than a large ceiling light and at the same time offers the option of
taking different positions while reading. It is best to place standing or
wall lights next to or behind the various seating areas for reading. They
should all spray a warm light, because this is more pleasant on the eyes.
Indirect lighting is recommended in
both the reading room and the library. It ensures a certain basic
brightness without appearing too bright. The bookshelves can, for example,
be equipped with an LED strip or the walls with colorful wall lights - of
course, to match the chosen furnishing style.
In the reading room there should
still be at least one direct and ideally movable lighting that can be directed
towards the respective book as required. Then nothing stands in the way of
reading pleasure in your own library with reading room, regardless of the time
of day!
